Privacy policy

Last updated: 05 June 2026

This policy explains what personal information Supercanin collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We collect only what we need to sell you dog treats and get them to your door:

• Order and contact details — your name, email address, delivery and billing address, and phone number if you give us one.
• Order history — what you bought, when, and what you paid.
• Payment information — handled by our payment providers. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the payment method type, and the last four digits of the card. We never receive or store your full card number or security code.
• Account details — your email address and password, if you choose to create an account. Passwords are stored encrypted and are not visible to us.
• Marketing preferences — whether you have subscribed to our emails, and whether you have unsubscribed.
• Website usage — your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visited and what you added to your cart, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
• Correspondence — the content of emails and messages you send us, including any photos you send us about a product problem.

We do not collect sensitive information as the Privacy Act defines it, and we do not ask for your date of birth, government identifiers or financial account details.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

• process, pack and deliver your order, and contact you about it;
• handle refunds, replacements and delivery problems;
• answer your questions and provide customer support;
• send you marketing emails, if you have opted in;
• detect and prevent fraudulent transactions;
• understand which products and pages perform well, so we can improve the store; and
• meet our record-keeping, tax and other legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our customer list.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only as far as they need it:

• Shopify — hosts this store and processes orders on our behalf.
• Payment providers — including Shopify Payments and any buy-now-pay-later or digital wallet provider you choose at checkout, to take payment and manage refunds and chargebacks.
• Delivery carriers — your name, address and phone number, so they can deliver your parcel.
• Email and analytics providers — to send order notifications and, if you have opted in, marketing emails, and to measure how the store is used.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, where it is needed to investigate suspected fraud or to enforce our terms, or in connection with a sale of our business. If our business changes hands, we will tell customers before their information is transferred.

Information sent overseas

Our store platform, payment processing, email and analytics providers store and process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada, Ireland and Singapore. This means your personal information is likely to be held overseas. We take reasonable steps to use established providers that are contractually required to protect it, but by placing an order you acknowledge that information held overseas may be subject to the laws of those countries and that Australian Privacy Principle 8.1 may not apply to that handling.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have asked for them. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We will still email you about an order you have placed — those messages are not marketing and you cannot opt out of them while an order is in progress.

Cookies

Our store uses cookies to keep your cart working between pages, to remember you if you have an account, to understand how the site is used, and to measure whether our advertising works. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block essential cookies, the cart and checkout will not work properly.

How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records for at least seven years, as tax and business record-keeping laws require. Marketing subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe, plus a short period so we do not accidentally re-add you. Customer service correspondence is kept for two years. Where we no longer need information and no law requires us to keep it, we delete it or de-identify it.

Keeping it secure

Our store runs over an encrypted connection, access to the admin is restricted and protected by multi-factor authentication, and card details never touch our systems. No online service can promise perfect security, but if a data breach occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@supercanin.com.au and we will respond within 30 days at no charge.

If you have an account, you can view and update your address and contact details yourself at any time.

Some information we cannot delete on request — completed order and tax records, for example, which we are legally required to retain. If we cannot action a request, we will tell you why in writing.

Children

Our store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@supercanin.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and give you a written response within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle information we already hold, we will email subscribers and account holders.
